Advanced Course

Location: Coquitlam Amateur Radio Club

The basic course usually consists of four(4) weekends for a total of 36 hours of instruction and demonstrations with the final exam being given on the last Sunday.

The course consists of:

  • Advanced Electronics
  • Components and Theory
  • Measurements
  • Power supplies
  • Transmitters, Modulation and Processing
  • Receivers
  • Feedlines, Matching and Antenna Systems

 

The final exam consists of 50 questions with a pass mark of 60%.  Those with Advanced qualification may build and operate home built transmitters, sponsor a repeater, club station or remotely operated station (i.e. beacon, remote camera).  Advanced qualification also allows the use of transmitters with an maximum output power of 1000W(DC input).   Advanced qualification permits the use of frequencies below 30 MHz if that person got their Basic certificate but less than 80% on their Basic qualification and chose not to get 5 wpm Morse code certification.  See Industry Canada RBR-4 for details
